### [Jesus Alone: How Do We Treat Others?](https://thesimplejoe.com)

Welcome to Simple Joe. I’m glad you’re here. In today's Faith Connections episode of Simple Joe, I'm kicking off a three-part series called Jesus Alone, and I want to try something a little different. I'm a Christian, and I believe Jesus is much more than a great teacher or philosopher. But what if, just for these conversations, we set aside the miracles, the resurrection, and the theological questions and simply look at what Jesus actually taught about living a good life? Whether you're a Christian, an atheist, or a skeptic, I think there's something worth exploring here. In Part One, we're talking about how we treat other people. We'll look at Jesus' teachings about loving your neighbor, treating others the way you want to be treated, loving your enemies, and showing real mercy through the story of the Good Samaritan. We'll also talk about reciprocity, resentment, boundaries, and why we shouldn't let somebody else's bad behavior determine the kind of person we become. Is it possible to live with less scorekeeping, more generosity, and more compassion without becoming naive or letting people walk all over us? I think Jesus has some remarkable things to say about that. And maybe the question isn't just whether Jesus was a great teacher, but whether we're willing to actually listen to what He taught. I'd especially love to hear from you if you're not a Christian. Does this philosophy of life make sense to you? Text me at 513-399-6468 or email joe@thesimplejoe.com. Let's have a conversation. Email me at joe@thesimplejoe.com or send me a text at 513.399.6468. Just say hi, I would love to hear from you. Stories of Change: Helping You Navigate What's NextNov 8, 7:00 PM

### [The Courage to Change: Weekly Preview](https://www.storiesofchangepodcast.com/)

Is there something you want to try, but you keep waiting for the right time? It’s week two of my 30 Days of What’s Next experiment, and we’re talking about the courage to change when you’re still figuring things out. Here's what's coming up in the next few days. On Monday, I talk with Western fashion storyteller Jane Stewart about grief and finding her way back to herself and something she loved. After Jane lost both of her parents, a question in therapy took her back to who she was at 16. She remembered how much fashion had meant to her. Jane reminds us to Wear the Clothes! Inspired with Jane. On Tuesday and Wednesday, behavior design expert Stephanie Weldy joins me for a two-part conversation about making a habit small enough to fit the day you already have. Then on Thursday, come with me to Georgetown, Texas. I sat down with artist and master hatter Nate Funmaker in his shop near the square. We talk about how a favor for a friend turned into his life’s work. Nathaniel's Custom Hats. On Friday, I’ll share one idea you can use from BJ Fogg ’s Tiny Habits . I’ll be back Saturday with what stayed with me and Sunday with a look at what’s coming next. Questions we explore How did Jane Stewart reconnect with herself and something she loved after loss? A question in therapy got Jane thinking about who she was at 16. It helped her remember how much she loved fashion. Note: This conversation is about much more than fashion. What is the movie test for understanding behavior design? Stephanie asks whether a film director could show the action on screen. “See my friends more” becomes something you can picture, like picking up your phone and texting one friend to meet for coffee. How did Nate Funmaker become a master hatmaker? A friend asked him to help, and Nate figured he’d stay a few months. Years later, he builds hats in his Georgetown shop using equipment that’s more than a century old. One idea to take with you Pick one change you’ve been putting off. Now try Stephanie’s movie test. If someone filmed your first step, what would they see you do today? Stories of Change: Helping You Navigate What’s Next Hosted by Judy Oskam Navigating a change or wondering what comes next? Hear real stories from people who have faced unexpected turns, made important choices, and figured things out along the way. A little wisdom to help you find your own way forward. We are over a week into NapPodPoMo and I am trying to mix up the topics. I may need to repeat some eventually. I am keeping a list of what I have talked about. It is pretty easy to do this. I just fire up Audacity and record through my webcam microphone. You can do it on a phone too. I upload to 3speak where I have created a dedicated playlist that people can subscribe to in their podcast apps. It is also included in the mega feed /hive-128305/@epodcaster/napodpomo-2026-mega-feed compiled by epodcaster. I am checking out some of the episodes produced by others. It is not just those on Hive. You can follow feeds in 3speak too. Have a great week!

### [Did the Christmas Truce of 1914 Actually Happen? - Urban Legend #7](https://ohthatsafact.buzzsprout.com)

Send us Fan Mail Did the Christmas Truce of 1914 really happen? Soldiers on the Western Front did stop fighting, but only in some places. ## What You'll Learn - The Christmas Truce of 1914 actually happened. - Soldiers sang, traded gifts and buried their dead together. - Commanders worked to prevent a repeat on that scale. ## Key Claims - The truces were informal and strictly grassroots, but occurred in several sections of the Western Front on Christmas 1914, not along the whole line. It started with impromptu carol-singing. - Many soldiers reportedly exchanged small gifts of cigarettes or buttons, help bury the dead and, in some places, they even played a little football. - Later Christmases saw far less fraternization, and authorities discouraged it and it never happened again on that scale. ## Sources - Imperial War Museum The Real Story Of The Christmas Truce Of 1914 - https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/first-world-war/christmas-truce Museum scholarship plus a full video transcript containing named veterans’ recorded testimony. Covers local variation, distances, football, continued firing, and higher-command efforts to prevent repetition. - National Army Museum “The Christmas Truce” - https://ww1.nam.ac.uk/1331/news/christmas-truce/ - Rifleman William Eve’s diary entry for December 25, 1914, and Lieutenant-Colonel Schoolbred’s December 31 entry. Covers local truces, continued fighting elsewhere, football, burial, and officers. +Museum collection & interpretations. - National Army Museum “A First World War Christmas” https://www.nam.ac.uk/explore/christmas-ww1 - Major J. Q. Henriques’s account of December 24–25, 1914, and a recorded participant interview. Covers local silence, burial, junior officers’ tolerance, and high-command opposition. +Museum interpretation - Private Papers of Major M. L. Walkinton https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1030011913 - independently within the museum’s collections, describing his letters home during service with the Queen’s Westminster Rifles in France (November 1914–April 1915). - Britannica https://www.britannica.com/event/The-Christmas-Truce - Truce was not universal and varied by sector. - Historical Audio Credit: "Stille Nacht" performed by German soldiers during the Weihnachtsringsendung von allen Fronten (Christmas Ring Broadcast from All Fronts), originally broadcasted by Deutscher Rundfunk on December 24, 1942. He'd be right. This really is an insane challenge for someone who is an unmitigated perfectionist learning a new craft totally different than his day job. ### [We Have What We Say Part 1](https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abigail-price62/episodes/We-Have-What-We-Say-Part-1-e3s02dv)

Abigail Price opens Episode 7 of this 30-episode series on keeping safe through God's word. In part one, she teaches that Jesus spoke to things God made, and that "you have what you say." She then leads you through a run of scriptures on God's love, protection, shelter, and guidance on your behalf. Key Points Jesus spoke to things God made In Mark 11, Jesus curses a fig tree, and the disciples later see it withered. He then teaches on faith, speaking to a mountain, and prayer. Speaking is a form of prayer, and "you have what you say." Matthew 18:19 is quoted on the agreement of two on earth and the Father in heaven acting on it. She recaps God's love, protection, shelter, refuge, deliverance, angels, shepherding, leading, and comfort. She leads you through passages on peace, shelter, refuge, guidance, and the Holy Spirit as helper. She closes with personal affirmations: God calls you good, orders your steps, and delights in your way. Scripture References Mark 11:13-14: Jesus curses the fig tree. Mark 11:20-24: the disciples see the tree withered, and Jesus teaches on faith, speaking to a mountain, and prayer. Matthew 18:19: agreement of two on earth, and the Father in heaven does it. John 3:16-17: God's love and salvation. Isaiah 54:8: "with a little wrath I hid my face ... with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you." Isaiah 26:3: God keeps in perfect peace those whose mind is stayed on him. Psalm 91:10: "No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling." Psalm 61:4: "I will abide in your tabernacle ... trust in the shelter of your wings." Psalm 46:1: God is refuge, strength, and an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 37:23: the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Isaiah 48:17: the Lord teaches you to profit and leads you by the way you should go. She says "Isaiah forty-eight, seventeen." John 14:26: the Holy Spirit as helper and comforter who teaches all things and reminds of what Jesus said. The wording is AMPC not a standard translation. John 14:18: "I will not leave you orphanless" (11:31) likely echoes "I will not leave you orphans." The wording differs from the verse. Genesis 1:26-28: giving dominion is an inference from her "Apple of his eye" (closing affirmations): no single verse is confirmed, and the phrase appears in more than one biblical passage. Psalm 91:1 or 91:4: "hidden in the shelter of God's wings" Timestamps (0:00) Series introduction and part one of "We Have What We Say"(1:50) Mark 11: the fig tree cursed(3:00) Mark 11:20-24: withered tree, faith, and speaking to the mountain(4:19) Speaking as a form of prayer(5:17) Matthew 18:19: agreement of two(6:38) Recap of God's love, protection, shelter, refuge, and deliverance(7:24) John 3:16-17: love and salvation(8:25) Isaiah 54:8: everlasting kindness(8:48) Isaiah 26:3: perfect peace(9:19) Psalm 91:10: no evil shall befall you(9:47) Psalm 61:4: abiding in God's tabernacle(10:08) Psalm 46:1: refuge, strength, ever-present help(10:30) Psalm 37:23 and Isaiah 48:17: ordered steps and guidance(10:57) John 14:26: the Holy Spirit as helper and comforter(11:31) "I will not leave you orphanless" (possible John 14:18 allusion)(12:12) Closing affirmations(12:57) "Hidden in the shelter of God's wings"Some timestamps mark the start of a passage's range in the transcript. ### [Walk with Me: Having Fun, Don't Take Yourself So Seriously, Seeking Wisdom](https://thesimplejoe.com)

Welcome to Simple Joe. I’m glad you’re here. Come take a walk with me on this Saturday evening edition of Simple Joe. No script, no agenda, just a conversation as I wander around my Cincinnati neighborhood and share what's been going on in my life. I'm talking about the importance of good friendships, my regular Saturday morning conversations with Curt and Clay, and how artificial intelligence is changing the way we work and live. But the real fun comes from a late-night family game night at my niece's new home, where we played a couple of hilarious games called Medium and Boo and Yay. Somehow, I ended up on the floor howling like a dog, rubbing my belly, and patting my head. There's even a little life lesson in there about taking small steps and learning from feedback. Along the way, I'll share a few thoughts about surrounding yourself with good people, finding opportunities to help others, and not taking yourself too seriously. Because when it comes down to it, spending time with people you love, laughing together, and making great memories matters a whole lot more than buying more stuff. Memories are better than stuff. ### [What Happens When You Give It a Try](https://www.storiesofchangepodcast.com/)

Saturday Perspective | 30 Days of What's Next What's something you've been wanting to try but keep putting off? Maybe you're worried you won't be good at it. Maybe you're waiting for the right time. Every Saturday in November, I'm taking a few minutes to reflect on the week's conversations and share an idea you can use in your own life. This week, our theme was Permission to Begin . And I've been practicing what I preach by picking up my guitar and playing a little music here on the podcast. I'm sharing some of my favorite moments from conversations with Mandy Rowden, founder of Girl Guitar; Jennifer Navarrete, founder of National Podcast Post Month; and Texas State student Jamin Ochoa, who studied abroad in Scotland. Mandy reminds us to quiet those old voices that tell us we can't do something—and find people who encourage us. Jennifer suggests treating something new as an experiment. You don't have to know how it will turn out. You just have to be willing to try. And Jamin shares how stepping outside his comfort zone helped him discover new confidence, even after returning home. Different stories, but they all got me thinking about what happens when we stop waiting and give something a try. One Idea to Take With You Think about something you've been wanting to try but keep putting off. Is there one person you could invite along? Send a text. Make a plan. Put something on the calendar. You don't have to be good at it. You don't have to know where it will lead. Just give it a try. About the Featured Guests Mandy Rowden is a singer-songwriter and founder of Girl Guitar, where she helps adults discover their creativity through music and community. Jennifer Navarrete is the founder of National Podcast Post Month (NaPodPoMo), an annual challenge that encourages podcasters to experiment and create 30 episodes during November. Jennifer also launched a business around her interests. Jamin Ochoa is a Texas State University student whose study abroad experience in Scotland helped him develop confidence and a willingness to try new things. ### [Is It Even a Gathering Without Gorengan | NaPodPoMo | Kagok Talk Ep 5](https://3speak.tv/watch?v=ekads/is-it-even-a-gathering-without-gorengan--mw6z3jop)

Hello everyone! This is Episode 5 of the Kagok Talk Podcast https://3speak.tv/playlist/e43d79afe818544a6f10acfd8035b33f?ref=ekads—a small podcast where I practice speaking English, and also part of the #NaPodPoMo challenge. In this fifth episode, I talk about *gorengan* (Indonesian-style deep-fried snacks). I explore why Indonesians love them so much and share my own personal favorites. In fact, **gorengan** are so deeply woven into the fabric of daily life in Indonesia that there’s a common saying: hanging out just isn’t complete without **gorengan**! Have you ever tried Indonesian *gorengan*? Which one is your favorite? See you in the next episode of the Kagok Talk Podcast. Have a wonderful day!

Title: Copilot Does the Weekly Report Duration: 13:06 On Saturday 7 November 2026, Simon sets up a dashcam in his car and reports on his Claude usage. He cut it by two-thirds, until he mistakenly ran one of his old angels, which added a large spike, and he'll need to rebuild it. Instead of Claude, he used Microsoft Copilot on his phone and Mac to turn voice-memo notes, a transcript and a RAID log into his weekly PowerPoint report. He says it worked well and gave him more confidence in other AI tools.

### [Red Cups and Coffee With My Dad - November 07, 2026](https://elsie.me/episode/red-cups-and-coffee-with-my-dad-november-07-2026)

The little holiday red cups are back, and all of a sudden I’m thinking about getting coffee with my dad. I’m sitting in a grocery store parking lot in the North Carolina mountains, in an out-of-control amount of sunshine, and thinking about the little things I wish I’d kept. A quick invitation, too. My Kaigi is November 14 . Come spend three hours with me looking back at your year and planting a few seeds for the next one. Use NAPODPOMO for 50% off. ----------------- I’m sitting in the car in the grocery store parking lot. It’s about 9 a.m. There is something so amazing about coming to this grocery store where I live, because it is nestled, literally, in the mountains of North Carolina. My husband always calls it the most beautiful grocery store in the world, because you really, you come in here and you’re just in awe. Not because the grocery store is any different, but because it is just surrounded by beauty. And the beauty that is here right now, with the trees and all the things. It’s a lovely day. So much sunshine. It’s out of control. Oh, so I came in this morning. I walk in, and of course there’s a Starbucks, like, right in the middle of—right when you open the doors, there’s a Starbucks. But y’all, the red cups are back. The little holiday red cups. And I know there’s all of the things, right? There’s all of the things that we know about Starbucks. And you have to understand that I’m a—I really do absolutely adore coffee, especially good coffee. I’m a little bit of a coffee, a little bit of a coffee snob. Although I’m also equally as excited to go get gas station coffee with the little creamer things with the flavors on it, because it’s so few and far between in my house—in my, you know, in my life—that it kind of brings back some memories. Not that I would have it all the time, but it’s like, “Oh yeah, I remember this,” right? It just hits different. But these red cups, it’s that also. And even though I will—especially living where I live, the area that I live is Asheville, North Carolina, and that is the place where local is king. Local is the majesty. Local is the thing you do. In fact, there is probably—I could count, at least I can think of two Starbucks in the city. I’m sure that there’s more, but they are not… It’s a different type of vibe in this town. There are many local, amazing coffee shops in Asheville, by the way. That said, I’m coming back to the red cups because they are extraordinarily meaningful to me. And not because of the coffee itself, but because of the memories of it all. I started to go to Starbucks, I think, or started to be a little bit more aware of going out to get coffee after I left home to go to college, to the university. Obviously, I was gone for the first time, away from my house, and I would always come back for the holidays. And one of the rituals that I used to have was going to get coffee with my dad. Good Lord, I didn’t think I was gonna get so emotional about it. This is where I cried a little. It was my favorite thing. I got a chance to talk with him, and we would catch up. It was like he was talking to me like I was an adult for the very first time. Obviously, I’m always gonna be his little girl. But it was the first time we got to… I don’t know. There are no words to say how special it is for me to go get coffee with my dad. We always went to Starbucks because it was so close to the house where they live. And the red cups always brought that back. And even without red cups, even without red cups, we go to Starbucks and we sit down and we catch up. It’s the memory. It’s the story. It’s the life in those little things that just makes me so happy to remember. So y’all, the red cups are here. And there’s another thing I wish I would’ve done. I wish I’d kept either the red cups or the little hot thing that goes around the red cups. You know, the little whatever it is so that your hands don’t get burnt because the coffee’s so hot? I wish I would’ve kept those. And I know that’s literally trash, but it would’ve been so wonderful for me to look at all the years. They used to be a lot better, by the way. The designs of the red cups used to be everything. I was always floored. Whenever the holiday season stuff from Starbucks would come, I would say even like 20 years ago, between 20 and 25 years ago, their branding for the holidays was on point. It was top-notch in every single way. Even the quality of the cups was different. The way that everything was designed was different. There was a theme that was way bigger than “holiday season,” right? There was something else about those red cups that was so much more beautiful. So I wish I would’ve kept some of those, because some of the designs were just so beautiful. And it’s also a way to, like, there’s an element of proof of life. Which is—I’m actually bringing this back to my planning experience that I’m doing. Seven days, people! Seven days to go for you to join me, and we could do this. There is a planner that’s super hot right now. And of course I was a little early to the party, so I’m already over the hotness of this planner. But it’s called a Hobonichi , and I started using those in 2019. And I think 2021 or ’22—anyway, one of those years, I did this amazing thing where I would put every piece of literal trash in there. Receipts, you know, torn pieces of paper from the things that I used on that day. Obviously, not every day had that in there, but a lot of it did. And keeping those little pieces of “trash” in the journal makes it so special. Now when I look back at it, it has all these pieces in it, and I distinctly know exactly where they came from. It brings me right back to where I was then. It makes me remember that I’ve lived, that I’ve been places, that I’ve experienced things. And it takes the ordinary into this extraordinary, magical package that I now have. And it really has fueled, I think, my capacity to fill an entire year with the work that I do at the end of the year through My Kaigi . Kaigi means “meeting,” and your kaigi is a meeting with yourself. So you’re meeting yourself. You can look back at the year and start to plant the seeds for the next in a way that’s super grounded and organic to living your life. There’s a lot of that that goes into this that isn’t necessarily just strategic planning to be productive, because I hate that stuff. Anywho, thanks for coming along with me on the journey with the red cup, y’all. So again, remember there is a 50% off code for My Kaigi . Come spend three hours with me next Saturday, a week from today. And Danny and I from Captivate (aff) are doing Office Hours on Wednesday . We’re so excited to kind of talk about end-of-year stuff also, because there’s some tooling that I think is underused by a lot of people who happen to use podcasting, and I’m so excited to talk about it. All right, talk back. Email me at hello@elsieescobar.com or leave me a voicemail on SpeakPipe . Links mentioned My Kaigi — November 14, 2026 . Use NAPODPOMO for 50% off . ### [NaPodPoMo 2026 Day 7: Producing the Hive Britlist](https://3speak.tv/watch?v=steevc/napodpomo-2026-day-7-producing-the-hive--mw6o4csw)

I was going to combine this podcast with the latest Britlist https://peakd.com/hive-133987/@steevc/the-brit-list-november-2026, but 3speak was limiting how much text I could include so I will do this separately and decline rewards. I have been doing these monthly posts for almost six years, but I have refined the process to make it easy for me. We have access to all the Hive data so you can analyse it in any ways you like. I guess some people would use AI for that these days so you could produce something prettier, but I am old school when it comes to coding.

We’re going down the list of United States Senators who have earned “A” Grades on Bridge Grades—the non-partisan report card scoring members of Congress on cross-party collaboration and effective governance. In this episode of our 30-day NaPodPoMo series, David and Lisa introduce two more Senators. There are usually surprises. While the national media focuses on political attack dogs and zero-sum outrage, these lawmakers are doing the unglamorous, behind-the-scenes work of negotiating bipartisan solutions and passing real legislation. Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! I've booked literally thousands of guests, but got caught up in a relatively new booking "trick" that could have meant problems for me on the air. Am I mad? No. These things happen. And I'm letting you know what to watch out for, because something similar may happen to you. Also, this is great info for you to have, because knowing it's out there can help your pitches to stand out.

### [Same effort, better results](https://micless.com/episodes/e7-same-effort-better-results)

When I started this 30-day challenge a week ago, I assumed that skipping the microphone and the audio editor would make each episode take ten minutes. Instead, I'm still spending thirty to forty-five minutes every day. The difference is that zero percent of that time goes toward recording and audio editing, and all of it goes into sharpening my ideas. In this Week 1 check-in, I look at what happens when you flip the traditional production ratio and spend your best creative energy on the words instead of the software.

### [History's Grossest Mystery - The Kentucky Meat Shower Solved? - Urban Legend #6](https://ohthatsafact.buzzsprout.com)

Send us Fan Mail History's Grossest Mystery - The Kentucky Meat Shower Solved? - Urban Legend #6 In 1876, chunks of raw meat fell from a clear Kentucky sky. Here is the leading explanation, and why it is both gross and satisfying. ## What You'll Learn - On March 3, 1876, raw flesh fell from a clear blue sky across a football-field-sized area in Bath County, Kentucky. Some witnesses were brave (foolish?) enough to taste it. (Why did they think this was a good idea?) - Historical lung and connective tissue analysis supports the biological answer of a passing kettle of vultures disgorging their meals mid-flight either from overeating or as a defense mechanism. - Vultures have an extraordinary sense of smell and have been utilized by natural gas companies to find gas leaks thanks to the foul-smelling chemical additive ethyl mercaptan . ## Key Claims - The vulture explanation is the best-supported theory, not a proven fact. - Witness accounts of the taste varied and were never verified. - Other theories, such as nostoc, were proposed in the 1870s. ## Sources - “Flesh Descending in a Shower.” New York Times , March 10, 1876. https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-new-york-times-new-york-times-articl/164789071/?locale=en-US — Original article about falling flesh - Kastenbine, L. So, the thing is…I have no idea just why it happened. Yes, I tried some fancy audio magic, but it wasn’t the first time. And, I heard it, so I spent the better part of 2.75 hours attempting to revert, fix and massage. All of it FAILED. So, I think this was a massive test. WHY? Well, normally, I would just decide to hold off on releasing it for a tons of real reasons. BUT NOW, NaPodPoMo comes along and says, “Fine Hess. You’re doing well. You’re ability to still be hitting deadlines and your batching efforts AFTER LOSING 29 HOURS OF PRODUCTION TIME are admirable, so…here’s a curve. Here’s your Kobayashi Maru (IYKYK). Well, in the spirit of authenticity and honesty, I showed my belly. But don’t expect it to continue, ‘cause I am working-out and I'll have an armor six-pack before too long! ### [ReVIVA!ssance Podcast Ep. 5 Drawing the Baby in God’s Art Studio](https://revivaissancecurriculum.substack.com/p/revivassance-podcast-ep-5-drawing)

Hi, this is Ana Maria Blevins with ReVIVAissance Podcast and thanks for joining me again today. We’ve been talking about arts integrated, God-centered education and I have been sharing a lesson called God’s Art Studio about the development of the baby from the first moment to birth. So Today we’re going to talk about drawing the baby. I love to teach children and adults how to draw with the five elements of shape. This is from a wonderful book by Mona Brooks called Drawing with Children. There’s also a book called Drawing with Teenagers and Adults, but she teaches kids to Break down an image by the contour, and the contour is made up of the five elements of shape: straight line, angle line, which is like a check mark, and curved line, circle, and dot. So all contours are made up of combinations of this, you know, and so it’s a great book, and so when kids learn to use the elements of shape, they can break down an image. And I also will be using the five elements of shape and drawing the images in my lesson. I have some pictures of babies, about a month old, or two months old that are really nice that you can use to draw. You, of course, have pictures of your own precious babies that you love or you can get it from a magazine or online. And you can do the contour of the baby with the five elements of shape. So this is a real great tool so kids can feel like they can Handle drawing something that is unfamiliar. Something that I’ve had a lot of success with is when I’m teaching them to draw an image, we look at the image and then we recreate it in a thumbnail sketch, that’s one and a half inch square. So they recreate it in that little space and they decide what details are going to go in there that are important. And that really helps their brain to feel like they have control. Then they take that little image and they recreate it on the larger paper. So there’s some planning, there’s been some thinking, and then they feel more confident when they create it on the larger paper. So you can use the baby’s faces that I have in the lesson to draw. And then since we have four threads in my lesson, the art thread, which is the God’s Art Studio of the baby and then we have the science thread, which is the science of embryology. Then we have the scripture thread, Psalm 139 and other scriptures that have to do with the baby being made in the image of God and by God. And then the fourth thread is career and ministry that is integrated with this lesson. So we are looking at our thread today. And so you can draw the older baby or you can also go to the chart that I’ve included that’s called the Carnegie chart. And you’ve got the stages from just a few cells through the first, second, and third trimester. So this is so wonderful for children to be introduced to the stages of the baby’s development. They were babies. We were all babies. And this Really brings them into God’s art studio so they see what He’s doing throughout the stages and then to be able to draw it from such a simple start to the complexity of all the organs, even the baby’s heart beating at four weeks. And we keep finding out that so many things have started even younger. So for them, it’s a delight to get to know themselves, what they were when they were being knit in their mother’s womb. And to see the preciousness and the intricacy, the intelligence in the design that is completely pre-planned. There’s no spontaneity. There’s no cosmic accident here. So you they could create a little chart of drawings through the different stages. And, you know, you may get inspired to go create a model out of modeling clay. There are wonderful models at pregnancy resource centers you can look at and create the baby. And as Professor Johnson taught me at the Richmond Art Center, the baby’s proportions are so different than than the adults or the other stages of human life and the baby’s forehead is really big and they havea very little chin and their nose is very close to their face, you know, just a little, little tip of their nose and then their cheeks are round sometimes. Babies who are a lower weight, like me, I was three and a half pounds. So, you know, probably thinner, more drawn in cheeks, but their eyelids are thin. Just a little slit. They don’t have the fully developed eyelid yet and the eyeball is there, it’s a large size, but the eyelid does not reveal much of the eye yet. As they get older, it opens more and reveals more of the eye. Their mouth is a little rosebud. And as they grow older, it opens up and fills out. And then after middle age, it begins to recede again. So this is fascinating. You will get so inspired to study the human body and to see how God designed it. It’s just stunning. And they will recognize that they are made in God’s image. There is nothing haphazard about us. And that human beings, we are the only ones that are self-aware. We create novels and literature and musical theater. We tell stories. We tell amazing stories of corruption and redemption. So, you will get inspired as I got inspired and I have a collection, I’m wearing Mama Baby Love today. I have a collection and this is one of them by Ana Maria Blevins. So I’ll be sharing more of that. But thank you for joining me today and I hope you enjoy right brain drawing with your kids. I’ll put more in the notes and you are going to get inspired and kids really thrive when they know who they are, how they are made and that they remain in the image of God. Thank you. ### [Family Podcast and Podcast Workflow](https://3speak.tv/watch?v=shainemata/family-podcast-and-podcast-workflow-mw5rs3pa)

https://audio.3speak.tv/play?a=3i8ulo5v Episode Show Notes — NaPodPoMo Day 6 (Shaine) Introduction In this episode, Shaine shares why he’s starting a family oral history podcast—beginning with an interview with his mother, who is living with dementia—and how National Podcast Post Month is helping him gradually refine his podcast production workflow. Key Points * Launching a family oral history project * Long-time intention to record family stories, finally put into action * Goal: interview family members first, then potentially expand to community interviews * Recording his mother’s memories while they’re still accessible * His mother is experiencing dementia, but still remembers many childhood and early life experiences * Capturing stories now to preserve them before more memories fade * Background includes migrant family life traveling for field work (Texas to states like Wisconsin, Delaware, Indiana, Illinois) * Prior experience recording family history * Previously interviewed family members (including his grandmother) on Blog Talk Radio * Family valued those recordings after his grandmother passed, especially hearing her voice and stories * Suggestion: create a family podcast (public or private) * If privacy is a concern, share recordings only within the family * Comparable to a family newsletter—just in audio form * Benefits include preserving voices, memories, and stories for future generations * Low-production approach for oral history recordings * Minimal editing required (no need to remove every “um,” silence, etc.) * Focus is on documentation and preservation rather than polish * The interview setup and progress * Used lavalier mics (one for Shaine, one for his mother) * Recorded about an hour; plans follow-up sessions for more detailed stories (marriage, raising kids, specific memories) * Improving his podcast workflow through small changes * Experimenting with recording externally and uploading (instead of recording directly in 3Speak’s interface) * Noted the time limitations when recording directly vs. more flexibility when uploading * Upgrading episode presentation * Creating individual episode cover art (not just overall podcast artwork) * Using transcripts to produce show notes * Building a consistent “footer” section (links, socials, etc.), though still working on consistency * NaPodPoMo as a low-stakes way to build a repeatable process * Using the daily posting structure to refine workflow step-by-step * Reducing procrastination by solving production challenges in small increments * Future plans * Record additional family members (e.g., father-in-law) to preserve their stories * Eventually interview community members who want to share stories publicly * Considering adding editing, intro music, and a more “production-ready” workflow before the month ends * Developing skills that could also support podcast editing work for others Closing Shaine wraps by encouraging listeners to consider recording family oral histories—publicly or privately—and shares that he’ll continue refining his process through the remainder of National Podcast Post Month. * * * Socials ------- X - https://x.com/shaine https://x.com/shaine YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@ShaineMata https://www.youtube.com/@ShaineMata Hive Communities ---------------- Texas - @hive-173291 Keto - @hive-100903 Scooters - @hive-129063 Affiliate Links --------------- Crypto.com http://Crypto.com - https://crypto.com/app/78qq6kx6q8 https://crypto.com/app/78qq6kx6q8 Ether.fi http://Ether.fi Cash - https://www.ether.fi/@rgvmedia https://www.ether.fi/@rgvmedia

### [The Long Tail: Small Projects, Big Relationships](https://jennifercokerhatton.substack.com/p/the-long-tail-small-projects-big)

Where’s the money? Jennifer Coker-Hatton and Jennifer Navarrete, founder of NaPodPoMo, talk about the long tail: the slow, steady payoff that comes from consistent work and lasting relationships, not overnight success. In this episode: Why the excitement of something new runs into “where’s the money?”, and why the payoff can take years. Planting seeds: the daily nurturing that pays off over time, compared with the overnight-success stories online. How small projects can turn into larger, longer-term work, sometimes five or ten years later. Choosing who you want to work with for the long haul, and why taking everything in the early hustle phase leads to burnout. Building an archive of content, such as a blog, social posts, video or a podcast, so people already know you before the first conversation. Why reputation matters: the creator world is small, so do good work and keep your word, even on small projects. Try this today: Before you say no to a small project, ask whether you’d learn something, make a good connection or gain experience. Then ask whether you’d want to work with them again. ### [Episode 6: Life and Death Decisions Come From Your Mouth](https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abigail-price62/episodes/Episode-6-Life-and-Death-Decisions-Come-From-Your-Mouth-e3ru367)

Host: Abigail Price Abigail Price stands on the belief that thoughts form pictures, pictures become words, and words shape our lives life. She starts with Jesus answering Satan's temptations with Scripture after fasting 40 days. She ends with spoken declarations of protection and long life. Key Takeaways Jesus answered each temptation with God's word, beginning with "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Thoughts form pictures, pictures become words, and words shape life. She revisits the woman with the issue of blood, who began to picture and say what she wanted, and then everything changed. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:20-21). Story of her late-teen friend Tony C and how she watched this law come to pass in his life. Jesus came to give abundant life. He teaches that His sheep know his voice and will not follow a stranger. How Abigail applied God's protection through Psalm 23:1. Choosing life (Deuteronomy 30:19) is presented as a decision made through what we say. ### [Give Yourself Permission to Say Yes](https://www.storiesofchangepodcast.com/)

Ideas Worth Sharing What would you do if you gave yourself permission to say yes? Maybe there's something creative you've wanted to try. A class you've thought about taking. Or an idea you've put off because life got busy. In this Ideas Worth Sharing episode, I'm sharing a book I really enjoyed: Life Whimsy: How to Think, Play, and Work More Creatively by Wendy Conklin, founder of Chair Whimsy. One of my favorite ideas from Wendy's book is the permission slip. A place to write down what you're giving yourself permission to do—and sign your name. Wendy also encourages us to make more room for play. You'll also hear a clip from my conversation with Wendy about creating a home and workspace filled with things that bring you joy. I also reflect on this week's conversations with Mandy Rowden , J ennifer Navarrete , and Jamin Ochoa . Each took a chance on something new without knowing exactly where it would lead. It's all part of our first week's theme, Permission to Begin . Questions We Explore Why do we sometimes need permission to try something new? It's easy to put off something we want to do because life gets busy, it feels impractical, or we're waiting for the right time. Wendy's permission slip offers a simple way to make a decision for ourselves. How can play and creativity help us create a life we enjoy? Wendy encourages adults to make time for play, experiment with new activities, and surround themselves with things they love. Her Play Every Day challenge is one way to begin. What small change can bring more joy into everyday life? It might be trying something different, making a creative space at home, or finally saying yes to an idea you've been considering. One Idea to Take With You This weekend, create your own permission slip. Write: I give myself permission to ____________________. Fill in the blank. Then sign your name. Maybe you're giving yourself permission to try something new, have more fun, or stop waiting until everything is perfect. Think about one small action you can take to make that permission real. You don't have to change your entire life this weekend. But you can start creating more of the life you want. Featured Book: Life Whimsy: How to Think, Play, and Work More Creatively by Wendy Conklin. Featured guest: Wendy Conklin is the founder of Chair Whimsy, known for her colorful, one-of-a-kind chairs. A former teacher and educational consultant, she has built a creative business that includes online courses and retreats for creative entrepreneurs. This episode includes an excerpt from my earlier conversation with Wendy. ### [Permission to Do It Your Way - November 06, 2026](https://elsie.me/episode/permission-to-do-it-your-way-november-06-2026)

I woke up around 2:30 a.m. with that lovely feeling of panic—and I actually went back to sleep. That’s progress, my friends. Today I’m talking about feeling like I haven’t done enough, finding a mission that feels like me, and a voicemail from Jennifer Navarrete about falling in love with podcasting again. A quick invitation, too: My Kaigi is November 14 . Come spend some time looking at what you want to do, what you want to let go of, and who you want to be next year. Use NAPODPOMO for 50% off , just for those of you here with the podcast. -------------- This morning—well, actually, maybe it wasn’t even this morning. It must have—well, I guess it was this morning. Probably around 2:30 a.m., something like that. I woke up with that lovely feeling of panic. You know, the one where you wake up and then something, unfinished something in life, crawls into your brain right as you’re supposed to just let go. I started to get a little bit anxious. Yeah, that wasn’t great. It’s because I have so much going on. But there’s just—I mean, it’s wonderful. I really love it. But I do feel like I have balls up in the air, and I just move from one thing to the next, and hopefully I’m gonna be able to push through and get all the stuff done. And then there was a feeling of it wasn’t enough. Like, “I wish I had done more” feeling. And for a moment there, I almost spiraled. Because what I have found out for myself is, if I allow even just one or two extra seconds of that to continue, I won’t be able to go back to sleep, and it will just totally wreck me. So I was able to stop that, take a moment, put my hands on my belly, lay directly on my back, and slowly exhale. And I was actually able to go back to sleep. Not by forgetting, but by putting a pin in it. I will be able to deal with it in the morning. And that is progress, my friends. That’s progress. A lot of progress. I had chosen before—just because I just felt I was always in a fighting space about a year ago. And it was this constant nagging feeling that I wasn’t doing enough, and things simply weren’t going to work out. And I had to continue to feel like I had to… Oh my gosh, it’s very hard to come up with words for this. To justify my value. I think that is it. I felt like I had to justify my value daily in a way that wasn’t healthy at all. And thankfully, I am not in that place anymore. So it was just a moment. I’m just sharing that because I think a lot of us have that. And it has taken a year for my nervous system to not go back to its comfortable route, which was to just get stressed out. Because that’s what it is, right? And I’m just thankful for that. So if you’re going through that, I feel you, and it’s going to be okay. It’s going to be all right. This week, for my mentorship experience—which I have not talked about, which is bizarro—I’m in, right now, week three. Next week is going to be—no, this is week four. Oh my gosh, this is week four. Is it? Yes. It’s week four, okay? We’re talking about mission, vision, and values. And the way that I like to work, about helping folks find that piece of themselves, or, like, find out what their mission statement is, or what their values are, and what their vision is for themselves, isn’t from an outward perspective. And I use this metaphor that just came to me when I was talking about it, because that’s how I feel. I feel this happens all the time when you do exercises to work on your mission statement and things like that: they tend to come from the outside in, where we’re looking for that lovely little statement that’s just going to encapsulate everything that we’re in. I sense, when I see those types of statements in either brands or companies, organizations, that in some cases it feels very—it feels like they’re wearing an outfit that doesn’t fit them. And I’m sure that you have heard this and that you’ve had this happen, where somebody who loves you, or a friend, or somebody who has your best interests at heart, will say something like, “Hey, this shirt would look great on you,” or “This pair of pants,” or “These shoes,” or whatever. And maybe it does. Maybe that piece of clothing really actually does look great on you. But you, wearing it, don’t feel like you. Even if it looks great. Even if you look great. You don’t feel great in it, and you don’t like the way that you look in it. And finding that balance between wearing the clothing that is both lovely on you, that looks great and fits great, and it’s slick and all the things that you like, as well as that you feel good in, you can move in, and you feel like yourself in—it takes a little bit of time. And it mostly takes you. It mostly takes you figuring out what that is. And I think that’s the way that I like to work through things. So I just was sharing that because it’s something that I have top of mind as we were working through some of those mission statements and things like that. And guess what? I got a win this week. Listen, we are—what is this, day six, right?—on 30 days of podcast episodes. Starting this as my audio newsletter, as my—I hope that this is my fulcrum in a lot of different ways, even past November. But I kept saying, listen, if you have something to talk back at me, you can leave me a voicemail. If you head over to SpeakPipe , you can leave me a note. Or you can email me at hello@elsieescobar.com . And guess what? I got a voicemail. So I’m gonna play it for you guys right now. Jennifer Navarrete: Elsie, this is Jennifer Navarrete, and I have to say that listening to your NaPodPoMo podcast is a real joy, because I feel like you’re my spirit animal in the first episode where you were sharing your thoughts and feelings and experience around video. Yep, I feel it. And then when you talked about not hitting record, been there, done that. And I think the one that really kind of touched me the most was the one where you were in the rain, or outside listening to the rain. Of course, we could hear the rain on our side as well. Because the thing that makes NaPodPoMo special to me is that I can podcast just for the pure joy of podcasting. Just for my own pleasure. Just to satisfy my own curiosity. Every November, I fall in love with podcasting again. Truly, I do, just for that. Because, as you know, as someone who works in this industry, it can be a bit much. The whole reason we got into podcasting was for that pure joy, to share our mission and message with the world. So thank you for being part of NaPodPoMo 2026. Yeah, and I’m looking forward to even more grand audio adventures with you. Elsie: I mean, thank you, Jennifer. Jennifer Navarrete, she is the founder, the creator of this incredible 30 days—what is it? National Podcast Post Month , where every day we post an episode. And she is on her 18th year—is it 18th? I hope I’m saying it correct—of doing this. Thank you so much for listening to the show. Thank you so much for all of the things. I mean, I also feel you. [Laughs.] There’s very few of us out here who kind of remember the back-in-the-days of it all, where it really was people picking up a mic and talking. And it was like we were talking to each other through podcasts. There is a lot of really good stuff that’s happening in this space. There’s a lot of creativity and a lot of amazing shows out there that do so many different things for, my gosh, thought leadership and business and entertainment and audio, video, all the things. But what I feel is missing is that just-for-its-own-sake piece of it all, and the power of RSS, and just getting behind the mic and talking without a need to have it be more than it is. There was something so great about that. And I just, I want to get some of that back. So thank you so much, Jennifer, for this, because literally I am feeling way more pumped about going back to my root, what I feel makes me feel great and powerful, and that I can do that. I can do that just by doing it the way that I want to. So permission granted for everybody else who wants to participate. Head over to napodpomo.org for that, okay? Those are my little messages of the day for today. And we have eight more days—ready?—for My Kaigi , which is my planning experience. So if you want to join me for that, I do ask a lot of questions where you get a lot of time to be a little bit introspective about the things that you want to do, the things that you want to let go of, the things that really are the fulcrum of who you want to be for next year. As well as lots of really fun things that are going to trigger lots of lovely memories inside of your brain, which is always very amazing. And thank you, Jennifer, because I did see that she bought a ticket, and I’m super stoked. If you want to use the 50% off ticket, it is NAPODPOMO . The link is in the description. You’re welcome to sign up for that. We are getting ready for that. So, yay, and I hope to hear from more of you today. Links mentioned My Kaigi — November 14, 2026 : use...

Title: I did what Bernie said - Close the Claude App Duration: 10:12 Walking along the canal for the free coffee he earns by hitting 7,000 steps four days a week, Simon works out why his Claude budget keeps draining. Inspired by Bernie (@topgold), he's closed the desktop Claude app and switched off every scheduled job except the inbox process. His theory is that the hourly inbox agent keeps waking topic agents on the heavier Sonnet model, and that each answer he gives in the open-questions log makes Dudley re-invoke sub-agents. He's now had token-usage reporting added to the activity log, so he can see which agents burn the most.

### [Why We’re Profiling Bridge Grades - NaPodPoMo 2026 Day 6](https://outrageoverload.substack.com/p/why-were-profiling-bridge-grades)

Day 6 of our 30-day NaPodPoMo challenge on Outrage Science Bites ! In this short episode, we dive into Bridge Grades —a tool designed to identify the true bridgers and dividers in Congress. Hint: It’s not a “civility score” or a gold star for being nice on cable news. Instead, Bridge Grades looks at raw legislative data to highlight lawmakers who actually pass laws through cross-party collaboration without compromising their core values. While political attack dogs hog the spotlight, high-performing “A” grade legislators do the unglamorous work behind closed doors. Our mission this month? Make the quiet ones famous. Starting tomorrow, we’ll highlight every U.S. Senator who earned an A grade—profiling two per episode across 8 dedicated drops. Over the course of the month, you’ll also be hearing more from Brad Porteus, the founder of Bridge Grades, about incentives, rewarding action over rhetoric, the goals and progress of the project, and related topics. ### [How to Establish (and Keep) a Recurring Radio Segment](https://rss.com/podcasts/stand/3298334)

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! "Can I do a recurring segment with you?" This is a common question ... And we're open to it. But there's one thing you need to do and it's been my experience that most people are not willing to do that. I take you behind the scenes of a 12-week segment I set up, which has fallen apart. We'll look at the hope I had, why I said yes, and why I've had to let it go.

### [Follow Friday: Open the Pod Bay Doors (NaPodPoMo 2026 Day 6)](https://3speak.tv/watch?v=steevc/follow-friday-open-the-pod-bay-doors-nap-mw54v429)

# The News The prices have diverged a bit again for $HIVE and the other site. So it goes and all we can do is to keep adding value here. I am doing this post as part of my #NaPodPoMo podcast challenge in November so you will find a little bit of audio included. I am putting that on 3speak that makes it very easy now. The team have been adding features and just this week added a playlist that you can embed anywhere. We shall see if that works here. # Friday Follows * I am doing this podcast challenge thanks to @epodcaster who has been running it for many years. Others on Hive doing it include @shainemata, @ekads and @nicklewis. * @ugochill just released a new EP /risingstar/@ugochill/latest-ugochill-release-ep-its-electric-outnow of instrumental rock music. * @mantequilla-soft is the development hub for @threespeak, but follow @meno and @tibfox for more news. # The End I will keep it fairly short today as I have the extra work of doing all these podcasts. In some cases I may need to do an extra post some days for that, but then I will give up some or all of the rewards. Hive five! ### [Visionary Meets Practical: Know How You Work Best](https://jennifercokerhatton.substack.com/p/visionary-meets-practical-know-how)

Why does something that’s clear to you confuse everyone else, and the other way around? Jennifer Coker-Hatton and Jennifer Navarrete, founder of NaPodPoMo, talk about visionary and practical personalities and how understanding yours changes the way you run your business. In this episode: How realizing that people think differently freed Jennifer Navarrete from needing to be liked by everyone. Visionary and practical: how an idea-throwing visionary and a practical thinker who wants the flow chart can work together. Verbal processing: talking an idea through is brainstorming, not a to-do list or a final decision. Value gained versus value given: judging projects and relationships by whether what you receive is worth what you give up, and not only in money. Knowledge, access and skills count too. Knowing how you work best, and why flexibility matters as an entrepreneur. Try this today: Before you talk an idea through with someone, tell them you’re processing out loud, so they know it isn’t a request or a decision. Subscribe to The Lessons Learned Series so you don’t miss an episode. Hosted by Jennifer Coker-Hatton, fractional CMO. jennifer-hatton.com This is a public episode. ### [Repetition and Consistency](https://3speak.tv/watch?v=shainemata/repetition-and-consistency-mw53md9w)

Show Notes — Repetition, Refinement, and Building an Audience Introduction In this episode of National Podcast Post Month, Shaine explores why repetition isn’t a weakness in podcasting—it’s often the point. New podcasters frequently worry about running out of things to say, but strong shows are built by revisiting core ideas from new angles, refining your message over time, and becoming recognizable for a consistent point of view. Key Points - New podcasters often fear they “have nothing new to say,” but podcasts don’t require constant novelty to be valuable. - Talk radio is a model for how repetition works: daily shows cover new events, but the host’s worldview and format stay largely the same. - A niche podcast (e.g., Lego competitions) naturally repeats its theme; the details change, but the core topic remains consistent. - Podcast episodes can be treated like stand-alone “audio essays”—each one is an attempt to express ideas, not a final thesis or dissertation. - Repetition creates comfort and expectation for listeners, similar to familiar children’s programming that replays segments. - Audiences often return because they know what perspective they’ll get from the host, even when the specific story or example changes. - Examples from online creators illustrate how audiences expect consistent viewpoints; new content is often the same message applied to a new situation. - You don’t need to invent brand-new insights every episode; you can revisit the same core message with different framing and examples. - Religious teaching is used as a comparison: the message may be centuries old, but it continues to resonate when expressed in different ways. - A tangent on “celebrity” argues recognition is often about exposure and consistency, not rare uniqueness—traditional media roles can be partly “luck of the draw.” - Modern creators don’t need gatekeepers (TV/radio stations) to build an audience; you can publish independently and grow your own community. - Consistency matters more than metrics early on—record regularly, expect to be rough at first, and improve through repetition. - Over time, your phrasing, structure, and clarity sharpen, and listeners begin to associate you with your niche and message. - Even highly specific topics can find an audience; the key is showing up and serving that interest consistently. - Defining the “values” or core principles of your show can help you stay consistent and give listeners something reliable to return to.
